Quality and carefulness for more than 100 years

The history of Pomona goes back to the year of 1897. At that time, the pharmacist Herrmann Opitz founded the firm in the northern part of the city of Rinteln. For decades there fruits were processed to juices and especially fruit wines. Still today, many people of the region remember the days, when fruits out of their own garden were taken to Pomona, who acted as buyer of such.

Very quickly the products and their quality were so well known, that already in 1906 Pomona was appointed as official supplier for sovereigns.

Throughout the years legend specialities like sparkling wines Schaumburger Gold, Schaumburger Silber and Graf Schaumburg, as well as the careful composed Rubin-Mehrfruchtwein (a variety of red fruits) have been created. Until today the people fondly remember the taste of these well tasting premium products.

In all the years since its foundation the enterprise mastered various manpower wise and specific market challenges. More and more we specialized in the field of private label productions and in exporting the goods worldwide.

1988 the long-term Manager Anton Müller bought the firm. In 1998 very surprisingly a political change came into effect, and from that time on spirits and alcoholic mix drinks were the main items to become produced.

After having built a new production place in Hessisch Oldendorf in 1997, it was time to say good by, although with feelings of sorrow to the historical buildings, that we had been attached to. But on the other hand, there also was a chance to build up a firm that was effective and could apply to the highest hygiene and security standards.

Today Pomona Kellerei GmbH is offering to its customers an extensive, flexible and wide ranged performance portfolio and has become a high performing and dependable partner of trade and industry at home and abroad.
